Lipstick, one of the most powerful weapons in makeup, can instantly liven up the entire look when chosen in the right color. However, a lipstick that looks great when you try it in the store can be disappointing when you get home. The reason for this is your skin undertone. Here's the secret to finding the lipstick color that suits you best.
Determine Your Skin Undertone
Skin undertone refers to the warm, cool, or neutral tones beneath your skin's surface color.
- Vein Test: Look at the veins on the inside of your wrist. If your veins appear blue or purple, you have a cool undertone. If they appear green, you have a warm undertone. If you see both blue and green veins or can't be sure, you probably have a neutral undertone.
- Jewelry Test: If silver jewelry suits you more, you have a cool undertone. If gold jewelry suits you more, you have a warm undertone. If both suit you, you are neutral.
Which Color for Which Undertone?
- Cool Undertones: Colors with blue and pink undertones will suit you very well. Colors like raspberry, cherry red, fuchsia, bluish-reds, and nudes with a hint of pink are ideal for you.
- Warm Undertones: Warm undertone colors like orange, peach, and coral are great for you. Orangey-reds, brick tones, and peach-toned nudes will brighten your skin.
- Neutral Undertones: You're lucky! You can usually wear both warm and cool tones comfortably. Dusty rose, earth tones, and true reds suit you very well.
Remember, these are just guides. The most important thing is which color you feel good and confident in. In our lip blushing permanent makeup application, our specialists also perform this analysis to determine the pigment color that will suit you best.
